Inquiry into Energy Policy and Planning in Wales

EPP 13 – Francis Cartwright

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a resident in Mid Wales and I strongly urge you to oppose the plans to build a series of Wind Turbines, Hubs and Pylons in Montgomeryshire.

The effect of these Turbines and pylons cannot be underestimated.

The Meridian Quay is Swansea at 107m is the largest building in Wales. The proposed wind turbines in the Dyffryn Forest will be   nearly twice as tall. This is outrageous.

I understand that the wind turbines and the proposed pylons are intended to generate a saving but it must be remembered that for there to be a saving there must be a cost. Please consider these costs very carefully.

For example:
Cost of the visual impact of the turbines and pylons
The cost of traffic disruption and damage to the roads because of the enormous weight of the turbines and transport of associated building materials
The loss of tourism caused by the unsightly turbine and pylons..
The effect of the noise caused by the turbines.
The cost of the loss of a beautiful landscape.
The impact on the natural environment.
The effect on the watercourses.
The cost to the local economy due to loss of tourism.
The damage to an ancient landscape with history at every turn.

Who will benefit most from the Turbines and pylons? The price to pay is too great considering the potential rape of the landscape.

Please consider my objections. TAN8 must be reconsidered.

Yours faithfully

Frances Cartwright
